The largest EU decontamination project in the ZAL Port


El mayor proyecto de descontaminación de la UE en la ZAL Port

iSCAPE is the most ambitious project of the European Union to decontaminate cities in Europe with photocatalytic technology. The project is about cleaning the indoor or outdoor air thanks to a reaction with light (Photocatalysis). The location chosen for the pilot test is the ZAL Port.

The iSCAPE project aims to integrate and promote the control of air quality and carbon emissions in European cities, in the context of climate change, through the development of sustainable air pollution remediation strategies. The main objectives are the measurement of the reduction of nitrogen oxides in the treated area, of the suspended particles of less than 2.5 to 10 microns, and of the sulphur oxides, the most common gases mainly associated with human activities.

The test will be done on facades and floors, on an area of 3,000 m2 by Nanoair Solutions and its photocatalytic product PURETI, endorsed by relevant credentials, university studies and international awards. It is a product that can be applied both to crystals and to any other type of surface without reducing their properties and leaving no marks. For a correct evaluation different air quality meters are installed, at a considerable height to avoid subtraction and vandalism.

If the results in the ZAL Port are satisfactory, it could be one of the measures that the Port of Barcelona uses to reduce environmental pollution. iSCAPE is recognized by HORIZON 2020 as one of the 10 projects that will configure the EU in the next 60 years.
